It's time for a new build and I've fallen in love with Korina, the wood. I love the sound of Les Pauls but can't get on with the scale so I've decided to build a dual bucker tele with a 25' scale (that's as short as I can go). I don't want a PRS and really want to use Black Limba. From all of my research, it seems to sound like mahogany but a little brighter.
Is this accurate? I know every piece of wood is different but how different is it to mahogany? Will I be able to get those Les Paul sounds out of black korina? Thanks if you can shed some light on this process. Thanks if you can shed some light on this process.I have three guitars I have made with Korina/Limba bodies and necks. One has a maple cap, the other two are 100% Limba save for the fretboard and headstock overlay. They are by far, the best sounding guitars IMO I have ever made.
And I have made about 50 electrics in my life. It is defintely my favourite wood.
WOrks like good mahogany, takes a great finish, is light weight, and stable. And looks good too!AJCHere they are. One natural the other two red stain.
